Hitchhiker's chatting adventures
Apparantly a guy by the name of Ben Burry, combined Infocom's Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy text adventure to a jabber bot. (ie you can play the text adventure just by chatting with the bot)

Flasher
Who needs the boring header when you can have FLASH?
Lost my ripple effects flash file when my mac crashed a while back. Redid the code again (with some help from the web tutorials), changed it a bit and out comes the new animated header for the blog.
Wee... Another project file closed.

Boardgame Review: Scotland Yard
Scotland Yard is a game of cat and mouse. The mouse being a criminal called Mr. X, and the cat(s) are the detectives assigned to arrest him.
The premise of the game is simple, Mr X need to elude the detectives' capture (for 24 turns) while traveling around the city of London whilst the detective needs to catch him within the same amount of time and before their transport resources runs out.
Each detective draws a set number of transportation tiles which includes Taxi, Bus and the Underground and a initial starting tile. Mr X gets all remaining transport pieces as well as special transport resource such as 2x (which lets him take 2 moves in a single turn) and the black (which acts as a wildcard, allowing him to take any transport as well as the ferry.)
I first played this game at the Settlers Cafe and was and instantly fell in love with it. What i find the most surprising about this game is its simplicity. It takes just 2 minutes to explain the rules and you can start playing immediately with almost no set up needed. And it is fun, much more enjoyable than most other games in fact. Especially when playing as Mr X, when the detectives are hot on your trail the anxiety i felt was the strongest emotional response i felt while playing a boardgame, or any games. Kind of like the feeling you get when you broke that vase in the living room and mom asking what the noise was.
